Congratulations High School Seniors Class of 2021. Graduation ceremonies are scheduled to start Friday May 21 and will all be held at Hallford Stadium off of Memorial Drive. I haven’t seen the COVID protocols.

That schedule doesn’t come close to lining up in this format, so everyone be sure to open the download, which is very clear.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Why the hell is the district scheduling graduation during the school day? This prevents staff from attending. This may prevent siblings from attending due to final exams. This is nuts.
I imagine it’s easier for the administration to do the graduation ceremonies back to back. They also probably pay for a number of services. It’s cheaper and equitable to do everything back to back over a few days.
Wait, isn’t there a stadium in N DeKalb that would be much more convenient for the schools there. Let me think, it’s behind Chamblee, within walking distance of…Chamblee and also convenient for Dunwoody and Lakeside? Ahhh, the racist central office strikes again.
I’m sure as Stan said it’s a logistics issue. Jesus, you can’t please anyone on here. It’s unreal. Reminds me a lot of when my school provides free lunch for teachers, and people complain about what was/wasn’t included.
Hallford Stadium has two sides. IIRC, Chamblee is one sided. Much easier to social distance when you have two sides of a stadium where spectators can sit. I also think the parking is much better at Hallford.
Those were my first thoughts.
An article in the AJC says DeKalb’s graduations will be virtual.
