DeKalb Schools will no longer be using ITBS. The district is moving to Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Measures of Academic Progress (MAP).
The Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) are assessments designed to determine a student’s instructional level and measure academic growth throughout the school year, and from your year-to-year in the areas of Reading, Math, Language Usage, and Science. This assessment tool would replace legacy assessment systems within the school district: Renaissance’s STAR Early Literacy, STAR Reading and STAR Math; Iowa Tests of Basic Skills; and some components of the the Cognitive Abilities Test. This assessment tool significantly reduces the number of norm-referenced assessments offered in a single school year. The MAP assessments will also serve as the District’s Universal Screener for the Response to Intervention (RtI) program.
