Salary Review for Teachers

DeKalb Teachers

.pdf link icon FY2016 Teacher Contracts were issued on MARCH 23, 2015 and will receive a pay plan on or before August 31, 2015. They will see any BOE approved increases on September 15, 2015.
Superintendent Green is working with Finance and Human Resources to conduct a comparative analysis to metro area school districts of the salary schedule for teachers, principals, and other instructional support staff at the local level. The goal is to close the gap in salaries and provide competitive pay in order to retain highly qualified teachers and principals. Several options are being developed for consideration. More information to follow and board mini sessions with the administration will be scheduled in the very near future to share and discuss the options.
Human Resources/Staffing Updates
In-Talage Inc. provided the district with 55 teaching applicants who are interested in working with the DeKalb County School District. Principals are in the process of interviewing these applicants. Provided that the principal does not wish to make a recommendation of a candidate from this pool of applicants, the vendors will provide an additional pool and the Division of Human Resources will continue recruitment efforts.

  1. I’m glad to see the initiative by Dr. Green as to making sure DCSS salary and benefits are comparable to neighboring school districts. However, it seems, he is doing Dr. Ward-Smith’s job for her. Just saying….

  2. I don’t think we’ve had any kind of human resources audit since this January 2012 Karatan Report that stated:
    * There are an excessive number of positions in Central Office
    * The number of positions need to be reduced systematically and logically according to organizational needs.

  3. In response to that audit there was a reorganization of positions. The district has the same number of positions/job titles, but they are grouped differently.

Look at how many different Coordinators there are.

  4. Thank you for the update. I’m encouraged to hear that Dr. Green is putting this on priority status. Just curious to know why the county published a new salary schedule for 15/16 after compensation notices went out? Also curious to know why DeKalb does not publish the breakdown of salary – state plus local supplement?
